Design and renovate a pharmaceutical plant to meet US FDA standards

The Situation:

Top executives of a Canadian pharmaceutical company wanted to double the size of their plant in Puerto Rico in 8 months. The plant layout had to be upgraded to meet US FDA standards.

Our Response:

First we developed the pharmaceutical layout and criteria for the designers. Crawford selected and hired a local pharmaceutical architectural/engineering firm to begin design immediately. We hired a Canadian construction manager who had extensive experience in Puerto Rico. As soon as the project was designed, the work was bid out and the construction work started.

The Result:

The construction work integrated the existing operation into the new building without any manufacturing down time. The work was completed in 6 months and included some significant client changes. The new plant extension was used immediately to meet the client’s production schedules.
